Family Care Health Centers
We are proud to support Family Care Health Centers (FCHC) in their journey toward equity-centered, trauma-informed care (EC-TIC).

Our Partnership
At the Community Health Commission of Missouri (CHCM), we are proud to support Family Care Health Centers (FCHC) in their journey toward equity-centered, trauma-informed care (EC-TIC). This partnership underscores a shared commitment to fostering a workplace culture where healing, inclusion, and resilience are foundational—both for staff and the communities they serve.
A Multi-Phased Approach to Healing and Change
CHCM is collaborating with FCHC across a phased engagement that emphasizes education, training, and long-term planning for sustainable change:
- Phase 1: Our team conducted site visits to both FCHC locations and reviewed staff feedback using validated tools like the ARTIC (Attitudes Related to Trauma-Informed Care) survey and the Brief Resilience Scale (BRS), laying the groundwork for tailored support and actionable insights.
- Phase 2: We provide up to 20 hours of coaching and responsive training, covering essential topics such as trauma awareness training, community empowerment workshops, leadership coaching, and practical tools for mitigating re-traumatization. These sessions can be customized for staff at all levels—from frontline care teams to executive leadership.
- Phase 3: Through monthly planning meetings over five months, CHCM supports FCHC’s leadership in crafting long-term strategies that embed trauma-informed practices into everyday operations. Together, we explore innovative ways to boost employee well-being.
This phased approach ensures that Freeman Health has the tools and support it needs to succeed, becoming a trauma-informed healthcare system that inspires others across the state.
Advancing a Culture of Healing and Belonging
This partnership reflects a growing understanding across the healthcare sector: staff well-being is not just a workforce issue—it’s a public health imperative. By investing in the resilience and healing of their teams, Family Care Health Centers is building a trauma-informed culture that models radical inclusivity and care.
