Vision & Mission
The Community Health Commission of Missouri envisions achieving zero health disparities through community and health system partnerships. We power the connection of community and systems to co-create innovative solutions that yield health equity in all policy and outcomes.

Our Commitment to Equity-Centered, Trauma-Informed Care
When the RHC Gateway to Better Health program sunset, we asked a critical question: What does true access to care look like beyond insurance coverage?
Having insurance does not guarantee that healthcare is affordable, available, accommodating, acceptable, or equitable. Nor does having insurance ensure that care systems address the deep-rooted inequities that impact health outcomes.
Achieving health equity requires addressing the broader social and systemic factors that shape well-being. That’s why we work across sectors to integrate equity-centered, trauma-informed solutions.

Building a Healthier Missouri for All
To build an equitable future, we must first acknowledge the persistent disparities that impact health outcomes across our state, including:
- Gaps in outcomes between racial and ethnic groups, particularly among Black and white Missourians
- Rural communities struggling with provider shortages and long travel distance to care
- Differences in the quality and cost of care between public and private health systems
- Missourians with disabilities who encounter physical, communication, or service-related barriers
- Older adults facing challenges with long-term care accessibility and chronic disease management
- The growing toll of poverty on health, as lower-income individuals face higher costs, greater exposure to risk, and fewer options
