Beyond the Individual: Translating Trauma Science into Community Action
October 3 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Riisa Rawlins will serve as a panelist alongside Trent Ball, Meg Bamford, Allison Williams and Emily Koenig for a conversation titled ” Beyond the Individual: Translating Trauma Science into Community Action” as part of the Chiron Community Giving Foundation (CCGF) Fourth Annual Community Convening.
As our understanding of the neurobiology of trauma continues to evolve, so too must our approach to healing. Trauma-informed communities recognize that relationships, environments, and systems play a critical role in promoting regulation, resilience, and recovery. Healing from trauma requires more than individual intervention – it requires communities and systems that foster safety, connection, resilience, and equitable access to care. This interdisciplinary panel brings together leaders from behavioral health, healthcare, education, social services, and community organizations to explore how trauma science can be translated into meaningful action across systems to promote equity, access and social justice. Panelists will discuss how collaborative, trauma-informed approaches can strengthen communities, improve mental health and growth outcomes, and create lasting opportunities for healing and connectedness.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify systemic factors impacting communities and key principles of trauma-informed approaches that support the development of systems beyond individual clinical interventions.
- Examine the roles of interdisciplinary collaboration among behavioral health, healthcare, education, social services, and community organizations in promoting trauma-informed care, resilience, and equitable access to services.
- Describe evidence-informed strategies for translating trauma-informed principles into community and systems-level practices that strengthen connectedness, improve mental health outcomes, and promote long-term healing.
