Missouri Hospital Association
Advancing Equity-Centered, Trauma-Informed Care across Missouri Hospitals.

Partnering with MHA to Advance Equity-Centered Trauma-Informed Care
The Missouri Hospital Association (MHA) has been a key partner in CHCM’s mission to transform healthcare institutions through equity-centered, trauma-informed care (EC-TIC).
With MHA’s support, we developed the Missouri Model for Equity-Centered, Trauma-Informed Healthcare Institutions, a framework designed to help hospitals and healthcare systems integrate trauma-informed practices while addressing racial disparities in outcomes.

Training & Engagement Across the State
As part of this collaboration, MHA helped fund a statewide EC-TIC Training Roadshow, bringing together medical providers, community leaders, and patient advocates across Missouri to explore how EC-TIC can improve care- particularly for Black birthing people and children. These sessions featured practical strategies, expert insights, and lived experience panels, sparking important conversations on equity, trust, and healing in clinical care.

Piloting Systemic Change across the Missouri Healthcare System
MHA also supported a pilot implementation of the Missouri Model in select hospital systems in Missouri, helping these institutions begin embedding EC-TIC principles into their operations. This initiative is laying the foundation for long-term, system-wide change in how healthcare providers recognize and respond to trauma, bias, and health equity.
Together, we are building a healthcare system that is not only clinically effective—but also compassionate, just, and community-informed.
