Velva Hollimon currently serves as Senior Director of Operations at the Community Health Commission of Missouri (CHCM). In this pivotal leadership role, she oversees daily operations and internal processes to ensure the organization functions efficiently and remains aligned with CHCM’s mission. Velva plays a key role in optimizing resources, supporting strategic initiatives, and advancing equity-centered, trauma-informed care. She also serves as a core member of the executive leadership team.
Past Work
Prior to joining CHCM (previously the St. Louis Regional Health Commission), Velva served as the Coordinator of Social Workers at St. Louis Public Schools. In this work, she was responsible managing response to crisis, mental health support and resources in addition to managing a team of school social workers, clinical consultants and trauma informed therapists. With a professional background rooted both in public education and the nonprofit sector, Velva is a licensed clinical social worker with a personal mission to be a living representative of the change that she wants to see in the world.
Education and Involvement
Velva is a proud graduate of Harris-Stowe State College and the University of Missouri-St. Louis’ School of Social Work. She completed the FOCUS Women in Leadership Program as a member of Cohort 72 in 2020. In a volunteer capacity, Velva has served various organizations as both a director, advisor and guest presenter for workshops on mental health and wellness topics.
In commitment to using her talents to be of service to others, she serves in leadership capacities both as a proud member of her church and of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Velva resides in St. Louis County with her husband and loves to spend time connecting with family and friends, traveling, reading and baking.
