Reimagining Health Equity & Philanthropy in an Era of Structural Health Divestment

September 10 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Heartland Health Conference session featuring Danielle Binion as a panelist.

As historic health equity protections erode, examine how leaders from Missouri and Kansas explore how funders and community systems can rebuild architectures of equity and resilience amid public health divestment, ACA rollbacks, and deepening public mistrust in health systems. This session will elevate the lived expertise of four health sector executives who are shaping the health equity landscape amid structural racism, federal divestment, and health system transformation. Each represents a distinct yet interconnected system in public health, primary care, community-led equity and healing, and workforce development offering a comprehensive view of how philanthropy can shift from transactional to transformational partnership. Grounded in REACH Healthcare Foundation’s Partner in Action model, this panel discussion will surface practical community-rooted strategies from Missouri and Kansas where urban and rural inequities converge and innovation is often born from scarcity.
