East Side Aligned

Expanding access to trauma-informed training, equipping individuals with the knowledge to foster resilience and healing.

Empowering Communities Through Equity-Centered, Trauma-Informed Workshops

For communities to thrive, families, educators, and caregivers must have the tools to recognize and respond to trauma. In partnership with East Side Aligned (ESA), the Community Health Commission of Missouri (CHCM) has expanded access to trauma-informed training, equipping individuals with the knowledge to foster resilience and healing.

In 2024, CHCM and ESA launched a series of community empowerment workshops and foundational trauma awareness training sessions designed to help families, staff and educators recognize the long-term effects of trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and toxic stress. This work has continued in 2025, broadening its reach to ensure more community members have access to these critical resources.

Why Trauma Awareness Matters

Trauma has profound effects on mental, emotional, and physical health. Providing educators, parents, and community leaders with the right tools shifts the conversation from “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?” This approach fosters healing-centered environments where individuals can recognize the impact of trauma and take meaningful steps toward recovery and resilience.
